liveMEA – a user-friendly app for streaming movement data in real time
MEA5 Pro extracts movement data from video in real time. The resulting time series are received by liveMEA, which acts as a bridge and forwards the live data stream to R or other statistical software capable of processing incoming data in real time.
The liveMEA app is available on the Mac App Store and provides a simple, user-friendly way to configure and manage this data-transfer workflow.
Version 1.1 includes the R-script for visualization of current movement parameters and dyadic synchrony indices.
LiveMEA is a lightweight macOS bridge for real-time Motion Energy Analysis (MEA) data.
The application receives movement-energy values via UDP and makes them available through a local Redis-compatible data store. It is designed for experimental, research, teaching, and development workflows in which MEA data need to be transferred reliably between applications in real time.
LiveMEA can receive data streams from MEA5 or other software using the same UDP data format. Incoming samples are processed locally and written to Redis/Valkey, allowing downstream applications such as R, Python, or custom analysis software to access the current values and recent sample history.
